Money, Food & Sex

Men are simple. Besides money, all they want is food and sex.
As they grow older, it becomes even simpler.
All they want and can have is food.
Sex? They dream about it.

There are sooooooooooooooo many eating places in Hong Kong.
I am not even counting the ones in China.
But not all eateries are good.

Here are a few of my favorite joints.

My favorite items are Dry Curry Shrimps and Calf's Liver.

Very resonable priced and decent food.

銅鑼灣禮頓道93-95號地面及1樓
Delicious food, delicate and nice. Very impressive!

The best Chiu Chow food I have ever tasted in Hong Kong.
Call owner Ah Dee to pre-order their specialties.
Valet Parking, one of the two in Kowloon City.

One of the famous Wonton Noodle shops in Hong Kong.

There are simply too many restaurants we tried.
A few of the Shanghainese restaurants were disappointing.
You will have to come here. I'll take you there.

OpenRice is a good website for restaurants in Hong Kong, Macau and Shenzhen.

Men Can Cook Part Two "Eastern"

Occasional Chef Tom is proud of his ham from Shanghai.

Spy shot number 1: I had to sneak near the kitchen window in the backyard.

Spy shot number 2: Goose Liver Sausage, regular pork sausage and mystery tofu skin.

Spy shot 3: Ah, he is not alone!

Spy shot number 4: Chicken broth is boiling. Shanghainese smoked fish looks warm

The guests are waiting.

The table is waiting.

I am waiting.

Finally, the cold appetizers.

The hot appetizers.

Chiu Chow cold fish.

Soup made with 金華火腿 Jinhua ham and chicken

More food ..............

The dessert was black sesame tong yuen (dumpling).

This is the real McCoy.

The meal was wonderful.
I have a picture to prove it.

Here is another proof.

Some men can cook.

Men Can Cook Part One "Western"

Weekend Chef Charles invited us to his home for a western meal.
There were fresh clams, nice salad,
seafood risotto, roast ham, etc. They were delicious.
We were busy sampling all the food and forgot to take pictures. :-(

Delicious desserts.

This is amazing - a yellow color cantalope liqeur.
The fragrance, the taste -- so mellow.
I have to ask Charles where he got it.

做神?
To complete the evening, congnac and tabacoo.
I am smoking my Winstons, while Henry and Charles enjoying their Cuban cigars.
All in the comfort of a warm home.

I Love My Friends

My friends in Hong Kong.
They made my(our) day(s).
They kept us busy.
They made sure our stomachs are full.
Like always!

At times, I forgot to charge my camera or remember that I had it with me.
Regret to those whom I didn't get to take a picture with:
Ann, Joe & Sandy, Kar Lai, Pedro, Sharon & Alfred, John & Christine, Darren, Barry, Winson and Agnes.

I wish everyone the best and thanks for being my friend.

This is a pleasant surprise that I came to meet Henry-my ex-roommate in Salinas, after 43 years.
He taught me how to drive a car, gave me his bicycle. I was treated like a brother.
He is also from Pui Ching two grades higher up. It is so cool!

It is customary for Chinese to meet for good meals.
Therefore 70% of my pictures are taken in restaurants.

The Adventures of Jonathan Gullible: A Free Market Odyssey

I didn't get to see this movie in Hong Kong. Have you watch it yet ?

One of the most misunderstood books in the world.

The original Gulliver’s Travels was written in 1726 by Jonathan Swift, since then there have been various versions released on TV, film and on radio. Aren't they entertaining?

Summary of the plot

Here is "The Adventures of Jonathan Gullible"

"I've been meaning to tell you for some time that I think you're doing fabulous work in the struggle for liberty…Jonathan Gullible is a great read and makes the principles of liberty accessible, even possibly to those with alien and hostile minds."
--Walter E. Williams, Economist

"It certainly presents basic economic principles in a very simple and intelligible form. It is an imaginative and very useful piece of work."
--Milton Friedman, Nobel Laureate in Economics

The Adventures of Jonathan Gullible: A Free Market Odyssey is a humorous fable about a young boy in a sailboat who is driven by a storm and shipwrecked on a remote Pacific Island. While marooned, Jonathan encounters people who explain the strange (statist) customs of the island.

A multitude of issues are covered, including: prohibiting inventions, protectionism, farm subsidies, the tragedy of the commons, property regulations and takings, taxes, inflation, unions, political bribery, occupational licensing, government monopoly, market alternatives to government services, government funding of the arts, special-interest lobbying, tax collection, efficiency, government franchises, government education, property rights, varieties of government, forecasting, paying people not to produce, bureaucracy, elections and voting, contradictions between school and the market, labor laws, social security, patents, liability, vice and drugs, responsibility and virtue, unemployment compensation, rent controls, building codes, zoning, majority rule, and self rule.

The book ends with chapter questions and a general statement of philosophy which usually generates plenty of excited discussion over the issues. Finally, some other free-market books and organizations are listed for those who want to look further into the free market.
